Maxime Cornu
1843–1901
French botanist and mycologist. PhD, natural sciences, Paris, 1872. Aide-naturaliste, Muséum d’histoire naturelle, Paris, 1874; lecturer in organography and vegetable physiology from 1876; later professor of horticulture. Director of the viticulture station, Cognac, 1876. Inspector general of agriculture, 1881. Specialised in cryptogams and plant disease agents such as Phylloxera vastatrix.
