Harry Marshall Ward
1854–1906
Botanist. BA, Cambridge, 1879. In 1880, worked in the laboratory of Julius Sachs in Würzburg, before travelling to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) to investigate a coffee-leaf disease. On his return, worked in the laboratory of Anton de Bary in Straßburg (Strasbourg). Assistant lecturer, Owens College, Manchester, 1882–5. Professor of botany, Royal Indian Engineering College, Coopers Hill, 1885; Cambridge, 1895–1906. FRS 1888.
