Pierre Joseph Auguste (Auguste) Bravard

1803–61

French cartographer and palaeontologist. Emigrated to Argentina in 1852. Appointed director of the national museum at Parana and inspector-general of Argentinian mines. Upheld geological theories contrary to those of Darwin. Died in Argentina in the Mendoza earthquake.
