Elizabeth Buffum Chace

1806–99

American anti-slavery activist and reformer. A prominent New England Quaker. Organised the Fall River Female Anti-Slavery Society with her two sisters in 1835. Moved to Valley Falls, Rhode Island, in 1840. Co-founder of the Rhode Island Woman Suffrage Association, 1868; president, 1870–99.
