Surgical instrument makers. At 62 The Strand, London, from at least 1826. Founded 1805/6 by John Weiss (b. Johann Jacob Daniel Weiss in Rostock, Germany, 1773, d. in Brighton, Sussex, 1843) who came to England in 1794 and became a naturalised British citizen in 1826; continued by his son, Frederick Foveaux Weiss (1806–89). The company still exists today (2022) in Harlow, Essex, part of Haag-Streit UK.
