Emily Macarthur
1806–80
Daughter of Henry Stone, Bengal merchant and banker of London, and his wife, Mary; older sister of Sibella Norman. Her father’s family, the Stones, were partners in Martins private banking house at the Grasshopper in Lombard Street, London. Baptised at Fort William, Hastings, Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, as Amelia. Married James Macarthur (ODNB) in 1838.
