Augustus Addison Gould

1805–66

American physician and conchologist. Practised medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Co-author, with Louis Agassiz, of the Principles of zoology (1848). Described the shells collected during the United States Exploring Expedition, 1838–42. An active member of the Boston Society of Natural History.
