Dear Professor Tyndall

We are expecting Professor & Mrs. Huxley on Sat. the 16th to stay over the Sunday with us, & Mr Darwin & I would be so glad if we could persuade you to come for the same time.2 I am in hopes we may still have a remnant of summer to receive you.

According to Emma Darwin’s diary (DAR 242), Thomas Henry Huxley, Henrietta Anne Huxley, and Tyndall stayed at Down on the weekend of 16 and 17 October 1875.
